A Brief History of the Band

Monotype came together on April 20,1997 with the intent to blend together different genres of music, to create a unique sound that would keep us interested as well as our audience. 

In September 1997 we released our self titled EP with the intent to gather a local following . In August of 1998 we replaced original bass player Adam Durand with Tim Thorne. After playing the local New Orleans club circuit for another   year we ventured into the studio to record our first full length CD "ELEVATE", released in August '99.  Since then, we have continued to keep the music alive by playing the local scene and supporting the local music. 

Our influences include Hum, 311, Smashing Pumpkins, and Rage Against the Machine among others.
